On Nov. 22, Bucks County Director of Veterans Affairs Dan Fraley accepted a $20,000 check donation from the Jewish War Veterans Association of Bucks County.

The presentation took place at Langhorne’s Team Toyota car dealership, where Norm Schnitzer and Lou Abramson of the Jewish War Veterans gave the check to Fraley.

The proceeds will go to Bucks County’s Veterans Transportation Program, which has served over 12,000 veterans with rides to VA medical centers in Philadelphia and Coatesville over the last 15 years.

The donation is the second-largest donation on record to the Veterans Transportation Program.

The program began in November 2001, when its first 15-passenger van went into operation. This January, the program will be going out to bid on its fourth vehicle.

The program is not funded by Bucks tax dollars, but is supported by the VA Medical Center in Coatesville with government license plate tags in addition to fuel, maintenance, repairs and insurance.
