New attractions announced for Village Renaissance Faire in Wrightstown

With the Grange Fair all wrapped up as of Sunday, plans are already underway for the Wrightstown fairground’s fall event: the Village Renaissance Faire.

Now in its 17th year, the Village Renaissance Faire will be held on Sept. 17 and 18 at the Grange Fairgrounds, 576 Penns Park Road in Wrightstown, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

The event, which drew around 9,000 people last year, transforms the fairgrounds into an interactive 12th- to 16th century village. As always, attractions include demonstrations like live music, theatre and dancing, armored jousting and fire-breathing along with human chess, historical demonstrations and a petting zoo, among many other features.

For those who wish to truly become immersed in the experience, there’s “loaner garb” available at the entrance kids and adults to dress the part.

The Faire is run by Ken Hone, and proceeds benefit the Wrightstown Library. A Bucks resident, Hone encourages people to “Experience the fantasy, and support the reality and importance of libraries in our community.”

Some of the new attractions this year are:

Armchair Wizards, an innovative, improvisational game show;

Pirates of Fortune’s Folly- Pyrat-mosphere, which features stunts shows, quiz shows, story-telling, sea shantees, workshop, and interactive games;

“Captured” unicorns, available for photo ops;

Mylins, Merlin’s whimsical counterpart, who will perform demonstrations of magic, and science;

Fencing demonstrations, lessons and foam weaponry for children.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students. Children under 5 are free with paying adult. No charge for parking. For information, visit http://www.villagefaire.org.
